Every Age Group

From infants to the elderly. A Baal Aadhaar (blue card) without biometric information is given to children under the age of five and it needs to be updated after that.

Valid Proof of Identity (PoI)

Proof of date of birth

Registered Mobile Number

This is optional during enrollment but is strongly advised for OTP-based verification in future 
 Aadhaar services.

Stable Internet

When using the UIDAI website to make an online appointment. You can enroll using the Introducer System or Head of Family HoF based enrollment if you do not have valid documentation.

A variety of documents are accepted for enrollment by UIDAI. Verify that the paperwork is in your name valid and readable. The following is a list of widely recognized documents.

Identity Verification (PoI)

There are several ways to enroll in Aadhaar such as Permanent Enrollment Centers (PECs) , Aadhaar Seva Kendras (ASKs) and special provisions for individuals without documentation. The specific steps are listed below.

Enrollment at the Permanent Enrollment Center or Aadhaar Seva Kendra

While PECs are established at banks, post offices or government offices, Aadhaar Seva Kendras are managed by UIDAI. Both provide online and walk-in appointment options.

Locate a Center

To locate the closest ASK or PEC use https://appointments.uidai.gov.in/.

Make a reservation

• Go to the UIDAI appointment portal, pick a time slot that works for you and choose your state or city.
• To verify the OTP and confirm the appointment enter your mobile number.
• Appointments shorten wait times but walk-ins are permitted.
• Go to the Centre.
• Keep both the original and photocopied PoI PoA and DoB documents on you.

Enter the following information

• Name gender date of birth address email address mobile number and if applicable parent or guardian information.
• Please indicate if you are okay with your Aadhaar being linked to government programs or subsidies.
• Verification of documents.
• After confirming your documents the operator inputs the information into the UIDAI system.
•  After verification the original documents are given back.
• Biometric Information Gathering.

Photograph

• A picture of the face is captured.
• Each of the ten fingerprints has been scanned.

Iris Scans

• For biometric verification both eyes are scanned.
• Only a picture is taken of children under the age of five (Baal Aadhaar).

Processing Time

• Generally, Aadhaar generation takes 10 to 30 days, but in certain situations, it could take up to 90 days.

All ages of children can sign up for Aadhaar. Each age group has a different procedure. Less than five years old (Baal Aadhaar).

Documents

• Updates are free up until the age of 15 but they are required to stay valid.

Eligibility

Foreign nationals Aadhaar is only good for their time in India and cannot be used for citizenship-related purposes.
